More McDermott Morgans
|
We've owned several wonderful Morgans, and had thought we would start to cut back a little. That was before Chris and Chris went to the Select Summer Sale at the 2003 New England Morgan Horse Show, when young Hillwood Once In Awhile ("Whiley") joined the herd.
Whiley thinks he's in charge, but he has never met Valcour, the self-proclaimed King of Morgans. Valcour has his own "Personal Communicator", Chrislar Farm's and our friend Jeanine Murphy, but he has no trouble telling everyone the HE is number one!
Well, you know that Chris and Chris can't resist a good Morgan sale! It seem that we acquired another prospect at the Select Summer Sale II (thank you Harry Sebring!). AMHF Bell Canto (HVK Bell Flaire x Cedar Creek Giselle) is a 5 year old gelding that loves to drive. "Bell" made his debut with Chris at Mass Morgan, followed by New York Morgan, and is now starting to work under saddle at Chriskar Farm.
Anyway, it looks like we have two great prospects. Time, patience and funding from McDermott & Company, Inc. will tell.
FOR SALE!! After 12 wonderful years of showing Morgans, we've decided to sell our show prospects and just keep Valcour and Fenway. We've grown attached to Whiley and Bell, so it was a hard decision. If you are interested in either of these talented Morgans, contact Chris Cassenti at 978-948-7674.
UPDATE: We've reduced the price on Whiley to well below our cost, and he has recently been gelded. Normally, we'd never sell a horse of this quality, but our business has been slow and we need to reduce the numbers. He'd make a great prospect, especially at the price!

3-year old stallion Hillwood Once In Awhile ("Whiley") made his saddle debut at the 2005 UPHA Spring Premier with Jaime O'Quinn of Chrislar Farm. He had learned to canter 2 weeks before the show!

The yearling Whiley "behind bars" at Chrislar Farm. Watch out - one of his favorite appetizers is "children fingers".

A July '04 photo of Chris and Whiley, then age 2. He is awesome in harness! Thanks to talented equine photographer Debbie Uecker-Keough.

"Whiley" is just starting to fill out a bit. He has that great head and neck from his sire and grand sire. Photo 5-06.
